Rynoplasty

How is rynoplasty surgery performed?

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that is performed to reshape the nose for cosmetic or functional purposes. The specific technique used will depend on the patient's unique nose structure and the desired outcome. However, the general steps involved in the procedure are as follows:

1. Anesthesia: Before the surgery, the patient is given anesthesia to ensure they remain comfortable and pain-free during the procedure.

2. Incision: The surgeon makes incisions inside the nostrils or across the skin that separates the nostrils (columella). This allows access to the bone and cartilage that make up the structure of the nose.

3. Reshaping: The surgeon will then reshape the bone and cartilage to achieve the desired outcome. This may involve removing or adding tissue, adjusting the position of the bone and cartilage, or both.

4. Closure: Once the reshaping is complete, the incisions are closed with sutures. The sutures may be dissolvable or need to be removed a few days after surgery.

5. Dressing: The patient's nose is then bandaged to protect the surgical site and support the new shape of the nose. In some cases, a splint may also be placed on the outside of the nose to help it maintain its new shape.

The procedure typically takes 1-4 hours, and the patient can usually return home the same day.

What are the benefits of rynoplasty surgery?

Some potential benefits of rhinoplasty surgery include:

1. Improved appearance: Rhinoplasty can improve the overall appearance of the nose, making it more proportional to the face and enhancing facial harmony.

2. Increased self-confidence: Many people feel self-conscious about the appearance of their nose, and rhinoplasty can help improve their self-esteem by giving them a nose that they feel comfortable with.

3. Better breathing: In some cases, rhinoplasty can help improve breathing by correcting structural issues such as a deviated septum or enlarged turbinates.

4. Correcting birth defects or injuries: Rhinoplasty can be used to correct birth defects or injuries that may have resulted in a misshapen or asymmetrical nose.

5. Easier makeup application: Some people may find it easier to apply makeup to a nose that has been reshaped through rhinoplasty.
